Who We Are
Manav Gulzar is an NGO located in the slum community of Ram Rahim No Tekra in Baherampura, Ahmedabad. We started working with the community in 2004 and founded the Manav Gulzar Community Center in 2013 with the support of Manav Sadhna and Flowering Tree. Our mission is the holistic upliftment and development of the community through value-based education, awareness, health, nutrition, community building, and skill training. In cohesion with the meaning of ‘Manav Gulzar‘, we are dedicated to nurturing each child so that he/she may blossom to his/her fullest potential. Following Mahatma Gandhi’s philosophy to Love All, Serve All, we welcome people of all religions and backgrounds. All of Manav Gulzar’s projects evolve based on the needs of the community.
About The Community
Ram Rahim No Tekra is home to more than 60,000 residents, consisting of Hindus and Muslims. The neighborhood is a remarkable model of unity and harmony as the leaders work together to maintain peace, even during communal riots. However, like residents of other urban slums, those of Ram Rahim no Tekra face major issues concerning health, education, addiction, sanitation, hygiene, employment, and lack of opportunity.
What We Do
Manav Gulzar touches the life of more than 750 children and women daily through projects focused on values-based education, nutrition, community building and life skills. We serve approximately 700 additional individuals through our health and awareness program.
